USDA: Corn harvest expected to be record 13.99 billion bushels; prices lowest since 2010

DES MOINES, Iowa — This year's corn crop has soared to a new national record, breaking expectations in many states that received too much rain early on and a summer dry spell that brought back drought concerns.

Congratulations, farmers. Given your great success, could we, the taxpayers, trouble you to send those farm subsidies back? It's clear that we need the money more than you do. Thanks.

Just keep pumping all those chemicals into the ground to produce more corn! Don't worry about the marshes, lakes and rivers that are part of the watershed. We need this much corn to produce Ethanol which has completely failed as a alternative fuel and the only reason it's still around is because of all the govt subsidies.
