Ponder is an enigma, as is this entire offense. Outschemed one game, plays a great game the next. Barely throws to a TE or to Patterson one game, utilizes them the next. I mean, does it really take 4 preseason games and 8 regular season games to finally get the right offensive scheme? If Ponder could have played like this the entire season - with poise, command, working to his strengths (short passes, bootlegs, using his legs to create offense and not from panicking and fleeing like a frightened deer), we could have had a few more W's. And whats this revelation about sliding Williams into the Nose Tackle? It took half a season to experiment with that idea and *viola?? Not.... good.... coaching!!! Its frustrating to see glimpses of greatness when half the season has been wasted on idiocy and mediocrity.

Well Fuzzy..., look at the defense we were playing bottom of the league. So that explains some of what is going on. And Ponder just managed he still played his usual crap-ola....Just he actually completed a few passes this game. But look at what could have been if he was quicker throwing and leading recievers.....less injuries and people getting the c@@p knocked out or deflecting and interception etc which are standard Ponder play. Time to see if Freeman is the QB that he has shown and problem being we need the real coach who will call plays using his and AP's strengths and the rest of the team for that matter. But time to move on and put Frasier/staff and Ponder in the rearview mirror.

i'm glad Friday was coming early for me, forcing me to crash and miss the second half. i say "glad" because if i had seen those timeouts called i'd have exploded. Hmmm... 2 weeks in a row where decisions are made late in a game we're winning that almost seem designed to keep the opposition in the thick of it. Or to make the last few minutes as exciting for the TV audience as possible. ok, I'm putting Fox Mulder to bed now. :) Still.... makes ya wonder what goes on in their minds.

One just has to like Kevin Williams. A gutsy, stand up player who makes an impact on and off the field. Kevin Williams will be hard to replace when he eventually does leave. The Vikings should give a Game Ball to Kevin Williams! He earned it.

Kevin Williams started showing up and making some plays for loss last week. You could tell he was starting to pick up his game. A defensive tackle with 2.5 sacks in a game is very rare. If Kevin retires after this year, I'm going to miss that half smile and knowing look, while he slowly chews his gum between plays. One of the best Viking players ever.

The story of the last three seasons...Frazier is an excellent human being and a terrible coach. Why can't we just admit that?

If they had blitzed Romo like that last week they would have a won that game too. Our corners can't cover anybody for more than three seconds. An Henderson continues to completely lost at middle linebacker. Almost all of the Skins big plays were right up the middle. If Singletary were a good coach Hodges and Mauti would be playing. This team resembles a high-powered race car without a good driver.

I generally enjoy your columns, Mr. Souhan, but your adoration of Frazier baffles me.

Perhaps Kevin William's knee has finally recovered after the cheap shot from the 49ers during preseason.

There has been a lot of attention on the quarterback position for the Vikings this year, and well there should be. To ever contend for a Super Bowl run, the Vikings need a top notch quarterback to lead the team. Having the best running back in the NFL does not equate to victories and play-off runs, although, Peterson carried the team on his back for the impossible last year. The defense is still the weakest part of the team and has cost this team 3 losses this year. The defense has competed the last two games and held on by the skin of their teeth to keep the Redskins out of the end zone at the end of the game. They are currently 2-7. With a good defense, they would be 5-4.
