That small engine has a big impact. Think about your neighbors.

This has also been a pet peeve of mine for ages! I hate the noise of leaf blowers and all the neighbors seem to use them at once, making the noise not only annoying but deafening.

sounds like a fun neighbor. We should all use push mowers and shovels too?

Leaf blowers are incredibly obnoxious; or maybe it's just their owners. I use power tools a lot, including a few gas-powered tools. I try hard to do it during standard working hours, and to keep it short. Some people are incredibly self-centered, however. I don't mind motorcycles either, but there are those who simply must make noise like a jet engine at any hour, day or not.

And yes, I do use a push mower, rakes, and snow shovels for the most part. There is often no need to make a lot of noise and dump huge amounts of pollutants into the air to do routine property maintenance chores.

Years ago a renter next to us complained about hearing my music I played while working in the garden. I turned it down but he stilled complained. I then pointed out to him that we had to listen to his old, very loud and out-of-tune lawn mower for two hours each week. He didn't like that I offered that my music was fair exchange for his mower's noise. (we have a rechargable battery-powered mower that is much quieter) Anyway, the cops always answered his calla about me, but laughed when I suggested his mower was out of compliance with the local noise ordinance.

Toughen up Barb. you should move to the country if you want peace and quiet.

Cry me a river! I want the leaves out in the quickest and easiest way possible. If you don't like the noise, come and rake my leaves up. I use a snow blower and a power mower as well, so if you want, shovel my driveway and push the ol' reel mower to your heart's content.

Whining disturbs the peace also.

I wonder if the same people complain about the sound of a snow blower? Hmmmmm

At times during this episode, I thought about saying something, but I did not want to impose on my neighbor’s right to be out working on his yard. I alternately gave up on my activities, then went out and tried again, but the level and duration of the noise turned out to be too much. Unfortunately, my experience is common. It is called noise pollution, and it is something we need to address. ***************** wear some noise deadening headphones
