Richard Pitino followed his father into coaching basketball, but he has learned from other mentors along the way as well.

Richard seems a class act. This may be the chapter we Gopher fans have been waiting for so...lo so many years. Let's hope he can condition these guys to play his style the whole game.

I see our biggest problem in a few years is keeping him at Minnesota.

All the complainers last spring that nobody would take the job, that top choices were turning them down. Then we get Richard Pitino. In a few short years, we are going to have to pay him a lot of money to keep him from going elsewhere, and that might not be enough.

Could it really be the Gopher's time? Looks like they have finally hired a real keeper...good job!

One thing I believe you will see from Pitino is that the team won't get worse as the season goes along. His teams will always be in great physical condition. Every year under Tubby his teams got worse, come february they were pretty much done. I also think you will see players get better from year to year. These are just some of the positive things we'll see here that we never saw the last 6 years.

Very good article. If only he could convince Buggs to play the 4 spot.
