Timberwolves backup center Ronny Turiaf has a radial head fracture in his right elbow. Turiaf will not need surgery, and he will be re-evaluated next week to establish an approximate timetable for his return. Turiaf injured his elbow in the second quarter of Friday night’s victory over Oklahoma City, when he fell and hit the Target Center floor hard.

And so it begins...errr, continues.

Looking ahead...in the event of another injury, or if Dieng really struggles...there are some unsigned centers--Chris Wilcox, DeSagna Diop, Joel Przybilla, Chris Johnson?--but unfortunately 10-day contracts can't begin until January.

Losing Turiaf is a big deal, worse than losing a typical 2nd string center. He brings exactly the right complement for Pek and Love's weaknesses. He has exactly the kind of length and defensive presence the Wolves need, plus he is a team leader. He was a great addition in the off-season and was slated to play regular, significant minutes. On the other hand, Dieng will get a chance to develop more quickly...if he can handle it.

Do other teams have the same injury issues as us? Seems awfully significant year after year.
