Amazing what these people can think of to justify their insatiable appetite for spending money. Our country is going broke, and "defense" spending is one of the biggest reasons. We deserve to go down the tubes if this kind of madness isn't brought under control.

The heck with iron man, they should design a robot like you wear in the movie Avatar. That thing could do some damage.

I think we need to cut the US military's budget... cut it a lot.

I volunteer to head up the effort. I promise to be over budget and late. I promise to distribute production of the iron man suit to the states/districts of the members of the Armed Services committee. I promise never to let outlandish notions of efficiency impact production decisions. I promise to produce more iron man suits that the US will ever need. I promise to sell surplus suits to undemocratic governments around the globe in the name of reducing costs, but ultimately negating our technical advantage. I promise to come up with an iron man II suit that can defeat the iron man I suits eventually used by terrorists.

No, it doesn't, this is a bogus story. As in fake.

We refuse to feed our working poor and prepare for another foreign war? We're bankrupting the fund that paid for all of our previous wars yet the beat goes on? Who was it that said "beware of the military industrial complex"? The former commander of the Allied forces in Europe during WWII. He knew! We haven't learned YET!

While I tend to agree with most of what the previous posters said, I couldn't help but think of the gains we'd see in the every-day world as a result of this research: batteries that would be small and really last, small motors to power things better, etc. Not so sure about the metal armor that will find it's way into the hands of thugs.

I think instead of modeling it after the Ironman suit, they should look to something in white. Perhaps Star Wars "storm trooper-ish".
