It's great to see Ra'Shede Hageman really emerging as a force! Go Ra'Shede! I am pulling for you to be the first Washburn Miller in the NFL! And, I am pulling for the Gophers to earn a major bowl bid! GO GOPHERS!!! :-)

I was hoping this article had more of a human interest feel about Hageman being heavily recruited by Ohio and Florida but stayed here in MN. Nice to see the local talent stay in MN. That's a big coup to get Hageman at the U and see him dominate the middle like he did today, instead of him doing it at other universities known for football dominance. Who recruited him? Why did he stay here...? To the reporter, please dig in, be more creative and curious, and give us more of an interesting story rather than a couple of locker room sound bites.

Someone on Bucky Brewster's staff,or Bucky himself must have recruited him. It would be nice to know who.

Was good to see him dominate. He'll have his hands full on Saturday in Bloomington. Last time Minnesota won at Indiana was...?

MarkA33: There is nothing in the headline to the article that would suggest any more story than what was given. 'Shede is a 5th year senior, and not a new commodity to anyone who's been paying attention to Gophers sports in the recent past.

There was a wonderful article I'm him in ESPN recently and you can find it on about page 3 of the blog. All the things Brewster did not do right, he recruited Shede away from Ohio State and a lot of big-name schools. I remember looking at Ohio State's visit board and there were about 20 guys listed all of whom had committed to Ohio State, except him. He doesn't get the attention he deserves playing in Minnesota, but he should after the last two games. He has influenced the outcomes of games by blocking kicks, batting balls down, sacks, tackles for losses, and running down running backs. It's hard to imagine how he would not be a first-round draft pick, or even find his way into the upper half. The Vikings, were in desperate need of receivers, let Decker slip to the fourth round. They need to find a way to get Shede.

Hageman was a human wrecking-ball on the field yesterday!

It's always nice to see a prospect fulfill his potential but it's also important to remember just how risky recruiting is. A few short years ago Gopher fans were disappointed when the #1 recruit nationally, Seantrel Henderson decided to attend Ohio State, then USC, then Miami. I doubt few Gopher fans would trade 'Shede for any player in the nation while Seantrel struggles for playing time with the Hurricanes.
