Both sides agree: No 'grand bargain' budget agreement in upcoming congressional negotiations

WASHINGTON — On this, GOP budget guru Rep. Paul Ryan and top Senate Democrat Harry Reid can agree: There won't be a "grand bargain" on the budget.

I wish Harry Reid would step back and let the House and Senate budget committees work together to come to a solution. With the current rancor, I don't see much coming out. Congress continues to nibble around the edges, when the big ticket issues need a clean review.

Wow, the Democrats are the only thing standing in the way of Republican cuts to Social Security ? I hope there's a palatable cat food on the grocery shelves. I once read an analogy comparing the Democrats to the Washington Generals exhibition team. The Generals travel with the Harlem Globetrotters and their job in the show is to lose. Somehow, the Rs end up with most of what they want pretty consistently.
