Shoot them with a camera instead. Learn how to play a musical instrument. Get active in the community. Spend time with your kids doing something peaceful. Visit a theater or museum. Create art. Stop killing things.

A good day with be when the DNR actually worries about preserving our natural resources and doesn't just make sure there are enough animals and fish for people to kill.

you guys must be "city folk"

When a species number is down, responsible hunters do not shoot those that have survived.

I hope the naysayers here are vegetarians. If not, you are just paying other people to do your dirty work. Wild game is organic, free-range, antibiotic free and all natural. No feedlots and confinement barns.

rjgrones, I respect your anti-hunting stance, but unless you are vegan, it is hypocritical. As Doug states in the article, hunting isn't all about the killing.

Those that think hunting is bad or blah blah blah... Come on! Really?!? Hunting is about putting your own food on the table while seeing nature like it should be. Humans hunt animals just like animals hunt other animals. It's part of nature and ecosystem balance. If we have to many of one species then disease and over population comes into play. You can go eat your salad. I'll have my naturally grown pheasant with potatoes instead. You never know if a day might come when you can't go to the grocery store and buy food. I'll be prepared you'll starve.

rjgrones; I take my kids with me hunting, it is the highlight of the year for them, I am their dad teaching them about the great outdoors, propper sportsmanship and understanding nature at it's best. We do take a camera so we can share the memories with friends and family for years to come. If we are lucky enough to get a bird or two, I teach them how to clean it, wrap it and have it for a fantastic dinner down the road. we support the communitites we visit, we buy our groceries and backery items in their towns to help their economy and act civil in all we do, you really need to get a life, Just sayin' ya know!
