Amy: She still wants kids, but he's fine with dogs

Dear Amy: I have been married to the love of my life now for almost five years. When we were dating, we both expressed a desire to have children. After we got married, we got two dogs that fulfill my needs. I no longer want children. I am content with our life.

If the husband is content with the status quo, pressuring him to consider the extra challenge of being a father is a road to divorce. Both partners must agree to create a family, not one.

I agree with you, mplsbigmama - if both people don't want kids, it will be a disaster. This guy is full of baloney, however. He never wanted kids in the first place and now has a convenient excuse to throw in her face. Think of how resentful his wife will feel in the future, especially once she gets past childbearing age. He should do the honorable thing and divorce her.
