Schafer: Minnesota has better luck expanding big firms than luring them

The chances of Archer Daniels Midland Co. picking the Twin Cities for its new headquarters is barely on the plus side of zero, and it’s curious why anyone here would bother meeting with anyone from the agricultural products giant.

Interesting perspective, considering last year the Governor and DFL went the other direction, raising taxes on companies already here, removing deductions, to raise revenue that in theory could be used to draw new companies here. I wonder how many small companies that would grow in Minnesota will see that growth diverted over time to other more growth friendly states due to this tax policy and what future corporate HQ it will cost us?
