Ukrainian astronomers say an asteroid might collide with Earth in a couple of decades, a Russian news service reported Thursday. Space watchers from the observatory in the Crimean peninsula said they discovered an asteroid about 1,345 feet in diameter, which they call 2013 TV135, that is approaching Earth at a potentially dangerous trajectory, RIA Novosti said.

2.5 gigatons. Big difference. Of course, it's very unlikely.

I'm guessing that asteroid will hit on the 50 yard line at the 2:00 Warning of the 2032 Super Bowl with the Vikings up 8 points :)

Poor choice of words for the headline. Should have been more along the lines that an asteroid would pass within 1.7 million miles of the Earth. Hardly a collision course.

Per the NASA website: "'...that puts the current probability of no impact in 2032 at about 99.998 percent,' said Don Yeomans, manager of NASA's Near-Earth Object Program Office at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif." I think .002% is pretty safe odds.

By 2032 the Vikings will be playing in Dickinson, North Dakota. Some oil baron will have bought the team and claimed the stadium cut too many corners during construction to stay within budget and it doesn't classify as a first class facility any longer. The stadium will be hosting concerts such as the Rolling Stones. People will be debating if 90 year old Mick Jagger still can put on a show.

“A 400-meter asteroid is threatening to blow up the Earth" --- major distruction yes, but I really don't think a 400 meter asteroid is going to "blow up the Earth."
