The 19-year-old defenseman has a lot to learn about the NHL game.

I think the Wild organization is handling this very well. Don't rush and ruin players. But since Dumba cannot go to the AHL to develop and Red Deer probably doesn't provide him with much opportunity for more growth at this point, having Matt here working with coaches and not necessarily on the ice every night might be a great way. It takes a little pressure off, gives a chance to watch the team and learn while still being a big part of it on a daily basis. No more mishandling of young players! (cough, Sheppard) Good on Chuck Fletcher and the Wild. Let's out there and take this one tonight in Tampa!!

This kid belongs here, and Fletch wont be afraid to keep him here. I would be shocked if we send him back to the RD.

He belongs. Gotta say that I've been impressed with Wild's game prep this year. They show up for every game and we all like to see that as fans.

I'd like to see them keep him here for awhile but after nine games return him. He's 19, and will be growing a lot over the next several years so have him play one more year of Juniors, toughen up and build up confidence against younger players and then come out next season as our solid second line puck moving d-man. If you keep him here for this year, then you risk the chance of injury, shaky performances lowering confidence and you burn a year off his contract. There are other guys on the d-core that can step in like Prosser or even Medvec maybe? Don't get me wrong, I think Dumba has a lot of talent and great ability even now, but if you can't play him in all situations now then he's not learning every situation, just watching on the bench or in the stands when he could be playing in those situations in the best Junior league in the world.

From what I've seen of him, he hasn't looked any worse than Stoner, Ballard, or Scandella on any given night so far. So yeah, he definitely belongs here, one way or another. In fact, I'd bet if they paired him up with Suter the Tutor, it might speed his development up quite a bit. Worked for Brodin, why not Dumba?

Seems like they should have done the same with net minder Kuemper the other night. Starting these 'young bucks' in Toronto really isn't even fair to them. It's the center of the hockey universe! A place like Sunrise FL would be a better place to let the kids cut their teeth.

I'd much rather see a developing Dumba on the ice than Stoner, Prosser, or Scandella most nights.
