Gophers' Claeys makes decisions at a lower volume

Gophers interim head coach Tracy Claeys isn’t a screamer like Jerry Kill, but the players are clear the same expectations remain.

And the beat goes on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on. It won't be long now where the average age of a Gopher fan will be------ deceased.

Good to hear that of the acting coach's enthusiasm for the lads but the team does not have the talent to be competitive in the Big Ten this year. They will likely get blown out in Chicago this weekend by 2-3 touchdowns and will not be favored in any of their remaining games. Coaches are paid big bucks to field competitive teams at the D-I level even if they don't win them all. When they have to depend upon a non-conference schedule of East Overshoe Techs for two-thirds of the wins necessary to become bowl eligible and then rely on hope to pick up two more in conference play, they are not earning those big bucks, be it Mason, Brewster, Kill or anyone else. There is simply no excuse for coaches being paid over a million dollars to not be able to field at least a competitive team against legitimate opposition. No excuse what-so-ever!

Why is a 'screamer' acceptable as a head coach in a University of Minnesota sports team. Screaming isn't acceptable behavior between adults, nor is it acceptable behavior for teachers or parents or just about anyone. Anyone, that is, accept for college football coaches? Is this acceptance in a male dominated, violent sport part of what breeds so many angry, violent men who do violent things to those in weaker positions, such as women and children in their lives?

Like it or not, this might be an audition for a next head coach if Kill decides he can't continue.

I think Claeys should finish the season as the interim head coach. To keep going with not knowing if the coach will collapse before, during or after the game is insanity. This Northwestern game will be a good measuring stick as to how far Minnesota has to go to get competitive like the Wildcats. And that's all Northwestern is right now is competitive even though they have worked hard to build a solid program. Pat Fitzgerald still has a mountain to climb to mix it up with the big boys. The Gophers aren't even close. Hanging tough with the Cats would be encouraging but you need to have a head coach in charge from the kickoff to the final whistle.

The Gophers need a win bad, just don't see how that can play out in NW.

Don't worry, Gopher staff has said recruiting isn't being affected by Kill's condition, status or indefinite leave of absence. Don't worry, not affected at all.

Doesn't make any difference who is on the sideline with the talent we have on this team... We are the bye week for the rest of the Big Ten teams... Sure glad when the "Fall Football Season" ends..
