I read a lot of articles about how bad artificial sweeteners are for you and how they made you feel hungrier than not drinking them. Turn out it's true. I've quit drinking diet sodas and feel more satisfied throughout the day and eat less.

There is absolutely no reliable scientific data that claims that these artificial sweeteners are bad for you. Don't believe everything you read on Facebook.

The words 'diet' and 'light' are jokes, but when the consumer see them they respond and grab.

"Still, the broader trend in the U.S. has been toward foods and drinks people feel are natural or organic." There is nothing natural about high fructose corn syrup, or table sugar that sweetens most non-diet drinks. Just visit a sugar factory to find out. Without moderation, surgary drinks are the fastest way to get fat.

I stopped drinking diet sodas at the urging of a relative 3 weeks ago. Not because I believed strongly in the danger of aspartame, but more on a lark. During that time I have made concerted effort to search the web for reliable, fact and evidence based research indicating dangers of aspartame. I have not been able to find any. ANY. I'm not saying that research won't exist one day but there is nothing to go on today. Unless you want to listed to supposition, hearsay, and what the latest mommy-blogger trend says you should do.

Diet Coke is undrinkable. Tastes like a chemistry experiment.

If you don't like it or want it, don't drink it. I like it, especially with a splash of whiskey on ice.

Any ad supporting the non-danger of sweeteners will suffer from an analogue of the Streisand Effect. It'll backfire spectacularly.

The Diet Coke aftertaste is enough to make me want to throw up.

My nutritionist highly encouraged me to give up all diet sodas and said it was one of the worst things I could consume. Like anything, moderation is key, but I was addicted to it, consuming 50 ounces or more a day for years. Since I gave it up, I sleep better and seem to have better memory retention as well. And the kicker is I have lost weight since I substituted water for the diet sodas. Oh, one more thing, I am saving a few bucks as well.
