Big crock of BS. I reported a stolen plate to the Egan police and it was as if I was imposing on them. A week or so later I got a letter about how they did not have the time or resources to run it down.

Bracket broken in a car wash keeps my front plate in the trunk. Front plate on a Miata is like screaming "Break or bend me please!"

If a personalized plate is stolen or lost, can you get the same name on the replacement, and if yes, how do they know which one is the stolen and which one is the legal one?

Make sure your license plate lights are working, too. That way, cops can't use that lame excuse to pull you over (happened to me this summer). Apparently, they need spotlights more powerful than 500,000 candlepower to illuminate a reflective flat surface.

My kid at college told me a plate fell off his (my) car. The local DVS office required me, the owner, to bring in the remaining plate and proof of ownership to get new plates. The office up north in the college town said "send him in". He got new plates that day, but 2 months later I got a parking ticket in the mail from a different town up north. Kid had not been to that town. So that reminded me to report the plate as stolen, and the parking ticket was cancelled. Good folks up north, don'cha know?

DIRLETON - Hopkins Police did about the same to me. I called - car was now parked in garage. I was told that I could not drive it - I knew that. It was parked in garage. I wanted to report it stolen and I knew who took it - had video from employer for proof. Not interested at all. Told me to report to DMV. Person who took plates suffered on consequences ad police did not give a darn! MVCURTIS - DMV will issue two new duplicate plates for personalized plates. They will give you a temporary yellow paper to put in the rear window until the plate arrives. I know that much for sure.
