Bring back the old northern European holiday tradition of Krampus parades! (look it up) Before the insipid Rudolph and those moronic elves, Krampus usta be St. Nicholas' constant side-kick.

Sell all the costumes and lights to another city that wants to stage a lighted parade. THEY get fun and Mpls gets a $$ shot in the arm for whatever they choose.

Hiring Disney stars? Having music stages on Nicollet Mall? Sound more like one or two night events instead of a long-running event over several weeks. Good ideas in theory, but not sure how doable.
