So why is this front page news? I can only guess that StarTrib staff and editors have already left the office for the holiday weekend.

To rgarton: It is "News" when FINALLY, we as Americans, can begin to interact BACK to the media masses as you and I are doing here. What these people are doing is opening up two way communication about a topic of interest and they are NOT controlled by the ones who control main stream media. THAT IS NEWS AND IT'S SOMETHING WE NEED TO SINK OUR TEETH AND MINDS INTO!

On a web page, EVERYTHING can be front page. It's not preset. People need to get over their mental attachment of the physical medium. Besides, if you don't like the stories showing up on your "front page" edit your own instead of complaining about it. Personally, the more stories the better, even if some are on the lighter side.

Good for the Strib trying to diversify their news topics. Personally I wish they'd do more stuff like this, because I get pretty sick and tired of the petty political "tit-for-tat" bickering that I see every day, and I get depressed when I read about all the violent crime going on in our cities. There are times where I'd rather read about space travel, because that's made up of people hoping and dreaming, which I find uplifting.

They brought you microwave ovens and a plethora of other inventions least of which is the medium you are viewing this on now. Not news? Whatever. Go ahead and cry about fuel, carbon and other woes while you poo-poo the geek. They'll save your butt anyhow.
