Ahhh, this time its the shutdown. How convenient to have constant excuses for Obamas results. Winter is around the corner, Im sure you will somehow use that in the near future.

The Republicans kill the economy when they are in office. Every Republican President after Nixon has left the next President a recession. Now the Republican base has been doing its best to hurt the country. They are treasonists and seditionists and should be dealt with accordingly.

"raise the nation’s debt limit in the next few weeks so the country can continue to make payments on money it has borrowed". "House Republicans, who voted to shut down the government...". There are so many lies in this biased drivel the Strib puts out. The Fed Gov't takes in enough tax revenue to make payments on the interest of the debt (without raising the debt ceiling!). Apparently according to the Star Tribune it was the Republicans and only Republicans who shut down the government?

cityperson, Do you know what the debt clock read when Obama took office? Do you know what it reads right now? Who is hurting the country?

Hundreds of thousands of paychecks that would generate income tax revenue for our country are not being issued; unemployment funds will be expended for those without paychecks. Put them together and you get: increased national debt! Thank you, people of the tea.

Fact is Minnesota has changed it's job counting system to equivalate PART TIME workers with FULL TIME workers which is 180 degrees to the opposite of what the state did just 3 years ago.

There is another article in the paper today that sums up the whole situation. After the "meeting" at the White House, when the Republicans offered a short term fix if obama would negotiate, his lapdog, prince harry issued the following statement: "Not going to happen."...the democrats are "all in" to continue the shut down for their king obama and the uninformed voter cannot recognize it!

Are they really trying to say that there are THAT many federal employees that laying off 17% of them would increase unemployment by nearly 50%????
