Way overpaid. We may need to keep Spielman locked in the draft room.

Forgive me if I yawn. EGriff should be the one getting the money.

Yes, too much for Robison but I agree with the strategy of letting an aging Jared Allen go. And, I know this article is not about Josh Robinson but we have to find a way to bury that guy in our D. Newton will try to abuse him, and will likely succeed. I can't believe the strib hasn't written an article on this yet. However, Rhodes still only plays in the Nickel? Frazier is an idiot.

Allen might be getting old but hes still the best dlineman the vikes have by far. I agree griffen should be next on the vikes list of dline to sign, young and tons of talent. Robison gfiffen and floyd can hold the dline down decently if the vikes can get 2ndary help. I wouldnt mind bringing Allen back though

Looks like the plan is to have Robison and Griffen at the ends , with Floyd replacing Williams. They will need to sign or draft a quality nose tackle to complete a top notch D line. It would appear they think they got the max out of Allen and think it is time to move Griffen up. I would expect Jared to get a nice fat two or three year deal with a prominent team or one on the rise like Oakland.

now trade Allen for draft picks,so Rick can trade them away for a rookie that cant stay in your offence game plan.

Robison would have been my 3rd D-lineman priority. $7 million/year for an 8 sack/year guy ? Probably spells the end for Allen, who will still be a top of the league pass rusher for several more years. With their pathetic secondary and mediocre linebackers, this defense is really going to collapse next year...not that they are much good now in Frazier's poor defensive system......

Anyway you look at this, Spielman blew it again and significantly overpaid. Not saying I would not have signed him, but NEVER to a contract this large. Again, SPIELMAN is the real problem with this team, its personnel, its many holes, and its last place record.

Spielman must have missed the fact that Mike Neal is a FA after this year.
