WASHINGTON — Now in its second week, the partial government shutdown has taken its toll on the White House, where about 3 of 4 staffers have been furloughed, barred even from checking the BlackBerrys they usually clutch like worry beads.

But Congress and the Prez still collect their pay? Where is the outrage? Congress hasn't passed a budget in 5 years and we have the worst Prez in history.....but they are getting theirs.

Since the White House is federal property, it should be closed down and evacuated.

Probably denying the back pay for work unperformed would be the way to go here. Democrats are always so ready to spend other people's money for nothing, no return, just to spend it. how can we tolerate little minds like these any longer? This should be a disqualifier for representative or appointed office.

The White House has 132-Rooms. When fully staffed with 1,700 employees that's equates to roughtly 13-employees per room. Even when reduced to 450 staffers it's still roughly 3.5-Employees per room. Another expample of how bloated the Federal Government has become and a prime example of waste.

All smoke and mirrors. CBS reported that the obama admininstration gave 445 Million dollars to PBS but has cut off cancer research for children. Which one of those are Obama's friends?

They'll need to block off the parking lot and double the guards to keep furloughed employees from stepping onto the grounds or otherwise communication with this federal facility.

I don't think its fair to comment on the number of employees required to manage the workload that goes through the White House unless one of you has worked one of those positions in the past.
