Amy: Half-sister wants full-sister treatment

Dear Amy: I have three older half-brothers. (We share a father, but I have a different mother.)

"Your gender also makes a difference — especially when it comes to caretaking. Obviously there are exceptions, but parental caretaking duties tend to fall to women. In leaving you to take care of your father, they are treating you like a sister." I don't even understand this backwards thinking. Is this really the attitude to have? Everyone should be responsible to help out with their parents, to the best of their ability. They are not treating her like a sister, they are shirking their responsibilities.
