The Vikings already have played three thrillers, changed QBs and been to London and back. What possibly could be next?

Time to add Josh Robinson to the list of recent DB busts. Marcus McCauley, Cedric Griffin and Tyrell Johnson welcome you.

I hope Winfield has been working out and willing to come back. The gamble to go young everywhere in the secondary has not been working very well. Winfield's skills may have declined but he could be like a much needed player/coach at this time. I do think that the secondary will get better with or without Winfield but he needs to show some of the other guys one more time how it's done in the slot.

Wait until we play a decent team before anointing Cassel. What I saw was a far cleaner pocket than had occurred all season, a QB that stared down receivers but a defense unable to make him pay, and several passes down field thrown outside when they should have gone inside and inside when they should have been outside. A top half defense would have killed us. That awful defense is the largest reason why the Vikes are 1-3. Fourth in the league in scoring and not a winning record? That is the kind of stat that shortens D-coordinators careers.

You can blame Ponder if you want but the fact remains the offense has scored enough points to win a least 3 of the 4 games easily. The D has been atrocious especially against Cleveland with 2 stops we would be 3 and 1. Even in the Detroit game a little more defense there and we could be 4 and 0.

Yes, the 'D' HAS to step up - big time. And, the one key change that has to be made, in order to have the chance to make something of this season - STILL IS - that Ponder NEVER AGAIN set foot on the field as the MN QB. No passing game = no running game = losing season. Ponder can't get it done, Cassel can! Where's Winfield?!? GO VIKINGS!!!

Cassel has shown more in one game than Ponder has shown in 30. Give him some time to develop more chemistry with the wr's and te's. Yes, the pocket was cleaner, because the entire offense was playing harder w/o a loser for a qb. Would you give 110% effort, when it's doubtful your qb can do anything with the ball anyway? Ponder's career as a starter is over, and he should be thankful it's lasted this long.

SECONDARY-SECONDARY-SECONDARY ! Year after year after year its as big a problem as quarterback in this franchise. However is responsible for this ineptitude on draft day EVERY stinking year should be fired out of a cannon. I mean good lord how many times are you allowed to fail at something before someone sits up and takes action ! I guess that's why they call it the SECONDARY.. its obviously not a PRIMARY concern for these idiots and never will be !

QB is obvious. Stick with Cassel. But you need to trust the defense to shut down the other team at critical times. Robinson is NOT a slot corner. He's never played the position. Cook can't stay on the field and when he is he gets toasted too often. Rhodes is a rookie but needs to start. And the LB'ers don't scare anyone. Much of this is on coaching and putting the right players in the right position.

And the Vikings are 1-0 on the bye week. No arrests!

I agree that if the season is to be saved it is on the coaching staff to make it happen. There is enough talent on this team at all positions to win. The coaching staff needs to make it a point to get the right players on the field and in the right positions.Floyd,Patterson, and Rhodes need to be on the field. You run out rookie kickers and punters the first game so do it with other positions as well. Get the best players on the field whether they are rookies or not. I do believe the secondary will start playing better if they get players in the right postions. Might need to try to coax Winnfield back to help train a slot because I am not sure if the Vikes have a slot corner on the team. I personally would like to see Blanton tried as a slot corner because he seems to be physical enough to play the position. Also if the Vikes don't get any better play out of the slot they better not be in the cover 2 in critical situations they better go to man coverage. I would like to see the Vikes play man more often anyway because their secondary seems more suited for man coverage.
