In Anoka County, WIC uncertainty adds to worries

Many women who seek refuge at Alexandra House, Anoka County’s only shelter for victims of domestic and sexual violence, were dealt yet another worry last week when the federal government shut down the Women, Infants and Children program.

Not to sound cruel, how about the completely crazy idea of being responsible enough to actual feed your own family?

Nikore, You are correct. You sound cruel. Perhaps you missed the part about this being a shelter for victims of domestic violence. A shelter is a place for persons with no safe place to live, often no longer having a source of income, kids in tow, etc. People with no place else to go and no other resources. Cruel? Perhaps misguided, uninformed or lacking compassion.
