Outplayed the opponent but lost.. That's the leitmotif from last year.. Ugh.

I can't feel sorry for a team who places players on line combinations like a bunch of kids trading hockey cards or putting power lines together to play Nintendo...... Example, you acquire Pomminville so you put him on the right wing with your top center on the team, you acquire a high class left winger like Parise and you stick him on the left wing ....... Its kind of simple isn't it ? a little too simple and predictable, things in life don't work that way........ It should be noted that Parise has been glued to Koivou since he got here, AND Parise has had record breaking bad results for him personally since being acquired, yet the 1st game of the year he is playing with Koivou....... The key to playing the Wild is stay out of the penalty box because they have serious money invested in a few players....... How is Grandlund doing at center ? Last year I said that was ridiculous and it was..... How about Brent Burns being more suited to play wing ? last I checked he is a full blown winger ...... The trade is Burns for Coyle, the rest of the players was pure junk. We will see how that works out through the year, we will see who performs better between the two of them and judge the trade later

You didn't need any "film study" to know that the Wild played the better game last night. They skated rings around the Kings for most of the game, moved better, passed better, played better position hockey throughout. Besides the little defensive lapses, another goal or two, easily available to the Wild, would have won the game too. If you don't put the puck in the net when it's right there, all the better play in the world won't win you games. But it's the first game of the season and their play was above any first-game level I expected. So kudos, and on to the Ducks.

Let's see, it I recall correctly, we had trouble scoring goals last year. But that's all different now. . .

I'm encouraged by the youth movement - Coyle is turning into a beast and El Nino looks like a gamble that's going to pay off. Quick is a premiere goalie and showed it. We didn't just have "shots" at the net (which is more of what I remember from last season), we had some nice plays from hard work and talent but came up short (well even, but short ultimately). The Coyle to Pomminville attempt at the goal mouth late in the 3rd was nicely defended but was one example of an upgrade in play I'm already seeing in this year's team.

The Jets were able to beat the Kings...Setoguchi had 2 goals in the game. Still wish we would have kept him, Cullen and Zucker together. Was a nice 2nd scoring line. Right now we are still missing a legitimate 2nd scoring line.

Good on Seto & the Jets for the effort against the Kings. Quick pulled with 10 minutes left in the 3rd-- not the same goalie we saw Thurs. who made the difference then. Go Wild!

however...Winnepeg finished what the Wild started...you have to win at home!

just like quality starts in baseball...quality shots in hockey = goals...Mike Bossy was one of the most accurate snipers ever...he had quality shots on goal...

I fail to see why this team is STILL being built around Koiuvu??? He has the same boring style of play he's had now for several years. Didn't even hear his name during the game and Parise is STUCK playing with him. WHY???? Maybe Yeo needs to adjust the so called 'top line'. They're NOT the top line. The other 3 lines outperformed that one by far. Love seeing the youth movement and the fast, gritty plays by them while the veterans didn't contribute much at all. Great game that was well played until the shootout and we ALL know how Backstrom is in the shootouts. The game was over the minute OT ended.
