Man sets himself on fire on National Mall; taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries

WASHINGTON — A man set himself on fire on the National Mall in the nation's capital as passers-by rushed over to help put out the flames, officials and witnesses said Friday afternoon.

The Navy guy thought that he was being bombarded with radio waves, the dental hygienist thought that President Obama was spying on her, and now this. Credit should be given to the joggers who tried to put out the fire.

oh dear. I am so sorry. Are we glad for the people tried who tried to to "put him out?" For their sakes, yes. But how do you not? GOOD FOR THEM!

This country is falling apart right before our eyes. I've never seen so much self destruction. It was just a matter of time before this great nation would implode due to the lack of personal responsibilities and the expectation that the government is to be your caregiver.

What I meant to say is that when there is mental illness and too much stress and anxiety, these things will happen. The woman the other day was not being treated for paranoid schizophrenia and something triggered this man to light himself up. These are people that social services and our tax dollars should be helping. Many people are very stressed out right now about our government, but it affects first, the most vulnerable people in our society who have delusional or magical thinking. Next will be those with narcissistic personality traits. Oh wait, we can find a few of them in the House of Representatives.
