Well, he already had the chance to support a "clean" funding resolution that was being put forth by Republican Rep Charles Dent of PA. He did not support the measure and it failed, so the shutdown occurred. Rep Kline didn't support it either. Both are complete phonies. They say what makes them look more moderate but they are right there with the lunatics when the votes count. Both need to go.
How about some blame for Franken and Klobuchar as they both voted for Obamacare and then tried lobbying against the Medical tax that is affecting Minnesota businesses and Minnesota jobs? When Congress sent the bill over that included repealing the medical tax part of Obamacare, both Klobuchar and Franken voted against it. Very two faced of them.
A CR that funds everything BUT ObamaCare would qualify as "clean."
The House should admit it has done all it can to stop or slow this mess. Then sit back and see how effective Obama/the government is at "new product rollout" as Obama describes it. We know he will screw it up. The country will suffer but the Republicans will take the Senate and hold the House in 2014. Maybe then Obama will get real...but I doubt it.
He voted to throw tens of thousand Minnesotans out of work for political purposes. We can't forget that.
Why didn't he and the rest of his cohorts "look at anything" to avoid the shutdown instead of stonewalling everything in the belief that they could successfully defund the ACA?
Franken and Klobuchar voted against the resolution removing the medical device tax because they rightly concluded that it has no place in a budget bill and should not be used as an extortion tool to re-fund the government. The fact is, no matter what the ring-wing media is saying, the device tax has had ZERO effect on any device manufacture laying off employees. The US market has gone flat. Medtronic began layoffs 4 years before the device tax or Obamacare was even an idea. Even if it cost these businesses a small amount per device, the amount will be more than made up for in new people now eligible for the procedures. People who were previously not covered. Get the facts before spewing talking points.
"If you can introduce something like Obamacare, that’s been settled law for a few years, and put that into a budget discussion, what keeps anybody from bringing up any issue in any year’s budget resolution?"
YOU DIDN'T ANSWER THE QUESTION, REP. PAULSEN! Man up.
A CR that funds everything BUT ObamaCare would qualify as "clean."---you need to review the definition of "clean" CR.
The country will suffer but the Republicans will take the Senate and hold the House in 2014.---We need to use history as a guide, how did the GOP fare after the last shutdown?
