Univ. of Kan. professors criticize university for putting colleague on leave over Twitter post

LAWRENCE, Kan. — University of Kansas anthropology professors are accusing school officials of violating the constitutional rights of a fellow professor by placing him on leave because of a post on Twitter.

This just proves that having a degree doesn't guarantee that you are not dumber than a brick. The 1st Amendment comes with no guarantee that there will be no consequences of your free speech. You are free to yell "fire" in a crowded theater, but you can prosecuted if anyone is hurt, and sued in civil court by the theater. You can call your employer names, but he can fire you for it. In this case, the employer is the state of Kansas, and if enough Kansans and their legislators are insulted enough, you can get canned. At the very least, he should have to take "sensitivity" training at a course run by the NRA. Bill G.
