As I sat on Sunday Morning and saw this article in the paper I thought, this should be good. Being a person that fabricates countertops (Laminate, Solid Surface, Wood, Concrete) I wondered how true the facts would be. Sad to say, I am really disappointed in Martha Stewart Living, and star tribe for publishing this. There are several, and several facts that are wrong, and the information is not listed correctly at all. I wish the star tribune would have done the research before publishing something like this. This is why the remodeling world is so confusing to the customer who just wants to make a purchase. Here are a couple of true facts for you: Laminate Countertops: Cons List: They say that seams show at the edge, and water can drip in. We have been in business for 25 years, and we have never had an issue with water leaking on any of our tops. The laminate world has come out with some major improvements to edges. You can do laminate countertops now with ogee edge style, and full bull nose, bevel edges that don't create a seam line. They also make now match seam fill that is water proof so when you do have to do a seam in the countertop you can hide it. This was just a start to the information that is not correct. Next time Star tribune you want some good information on updating your home, you should contact the local people who do this for a living and do the manufacturing. Not only do we fabricate but we also sell to the customer direct. The customer can come to my shop and see all types of countertops and get information all the different types.
