The insanity of the regressives is endless ,They would let this country collapse to stop Obama care which is law. They are the biggest threat to this country not Terrorists.

I'd think a better headline would be "Senate passes bloated spending and appropriation bill. Now moves back to house to restore responsibility to national sensibilities."

The right isn't logic driven it is hate driven. What are they offering this country,a possible collapse of the economy and country, cutting SS, Medicare ,food stamps, welfare, national health care plan and if that isn't enough, they aren't the slightest bit concerned by the deficit , they only say they are because for every dollar cut from the poor and old they want to give a dollar or more to the wealthy in tax cuts and if they got their way it would be a total wash and the deficit would increase and continue , Thats the facts , that is what being a regressive means in this country in 2013.

This senate vote separates moderate Republicans and extreme Republicans. Shutting down the government and defunding new federal health care laws only create chaos and further division. On the same token it also exposes artificial politicians who represent their party more than they represent Americans. There isn't any honorable politician in the United States government who wants to shut it down.

I am not a fan of Mr Obama. ( I didn't vote for that other guy either). I don't understand ALL the implications of Obamacare ( formerly known as Romneycare) but it seems to me the tea party opposition is driven by hate rather than rational thought. We have another election in 2016.

"There isn't any honorable politician in the United States government" - That certainly is looking like a prerequisite for profit today isn't it.

It's ironic that the Tea Party has actually created a strong bipartisan coalition. They just aren't in it.

Cruz et co. wished to block a vote on a bill that included defunding the ACA because they knew the anti-Obamacare language would get removed. Too clever by half. Some Republicans voted for passing a budget that defunds the ACA AND keeps the government open. Win / win for them. They may be be around a few more years.

It's disappointing that they would only extend into November at which point the whole process would repeat. Perhaps the senate can only strip out measures that the house passed, but there should be no deal that doesnt go through fiscal year 2014.
