LONDON — Matt Cassel will get a chance to steer the Minnesota Vikings to their first win of the season — and maybe put himself in position for a more regular role.

He has a chance, but he plays for the Vikings so he probably wont take advantage of it.

funny stuff. like matt cassel will be able to do anything better than ponder who already is under the bridge. what was cassel's 2012 QBR? 49?

Hammer19Sep. 27, 13 4:03 PM

I would trade a 6th or 7th rounder right now to Tampa Bay for Freeman.

And if the Cassel experiment is also a bust, then you will have two weeks to debate Thompson, or that long shot that intrigues almost every viking fan.... Favre; instant credibility. What do you have to lose?

either way... we're done.

Hammer19: I didn't understand your comment so I did the wikileaks thing and you are 100% correct if he is available.... I bet he would be a great fit in the vikings organization and for sure, a decent chance. Is he available? Has this been in the media? If so, the vikings should take note. For those of you who also don't know about this Tampa QB, I suggest you google his name and read a bit.

"You know, I don't for a number of reasons," Freeman said. "But the bottom line is, if you want things to change, something has got to change. At the end of the day, yes, I think that moving forward, that might be, that is going to be probably the best option." Freeman WANTS TO BE TRADED! Make it happen Spielman. Ponder can't get it done. He had his chance. Freeman showed far more promise. I'm sure playing with AP, a decent receiving corps, and a strong front line wouldn't be the worst trade he could work out. As for Tampa, they seem done with him. If the Vikings can steal him for a low draft pick, it's well worth the shot.

Keep ponder and trade cassel and a draft pick for Freeman. Let the two fight it out for the starting job. both are young. both might need that kind of pressure to excel. Who knows.

A disaster in the making. If he were better than Ponder, he would have been playing by now.

I really hope Cassel plays well, so everyone that's been dumping on him all week can eat crow.
