Despite contraction talk, Twins give Selig high marks

Some baseball fans in these parts will scoff and complain when Bud Selig is brought up in a conversation. Many haven’t forgotten the contraction threats of 2001 and remember Selig’s involvement in a tension-filled period in Twins history.

St Peter is no better than Selig....I'm tired of their self promoting blubbering. Selig set the game back in refusing to stand up for small markets, also failure to stand up to the players union.

St. Peter doesn't know if the renewal rate for season tickets will be up or down? Let's hope you will be FIRED before you can find out. This whole team needs new leadership. Letting Gardenhire go will not fix things in this dysfunctional organization.

No, no, o. The worst leader in pro sports is this guy. A user car sales guy from a dumpy city like milwawa.

I am checking out from the Twins until they have a competitive team.(2015? 2016?) Sorry but I cannot tolerate owners who are content to lost 90 because they know we the fans will continue to shell out money for their toys. I for one don't love spending 125.00 for a family of 4 to sit outside on a Sunday afternoon in July when it is 95F. C'mon fans penalize these guys by not putting together a major league roster. (Read Twins worst team ERA in MLB and 3rd or 4th worst overall record in MLB for 2013)

Bud Selig did not stand up to the player's union? Do some research on the Collusion I and Collusion II cases won by MLBPA, the most powerful organization is sports at the time. What was Bud supposed to do in the tied All-Star game - call the dugouts in the seventh inning and warn the managers that they might run out of pitchers? Bud Selig was no genius, nor was he a dunce.

With the contraction of the Twins a major milestone in Seligs career, I cannot imagine anyone in this area with the exception of the Pohlad family that doesn't think it is about time this guys moves on. I did read that during Seligs tenure as Grand Puba of Baseball, the avg salary for a player has tripled to 3Mil/year and the avg value for a baseball franchise has risen to a level that allowed the LA Dodgers to recently sell for 2 Billion dollars. So next time you fans ante up $9.00 for a beer and $12.00 for a sandwich after paying LARGE prices for a ticket and parking, you might take the time to tip your cap to ol' Bud for getting those prices up into the stratosphere and pulling the poor Pohlad family back from the brink of bankruptcy by getting them a new stadium.

Skeptic - I once heard that Carl Pohlad volunteered for contraction. True or false?

after reading this article I threw up a little in my mouth. This whole organization is a joke. The last two years St Peter & Ryan both said they thought the Twins would be competitive. WRONG, WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The system is broken. Having 100 million dollar payroll disparity is ridiculous and does not allow for parity.

Selig delivered the stadium to the Pohlads through the threat of contraction. He delivered huge franchise value appreciation, so the Twins org will always love Selig no matter what else he did.
