Plain and simple - Cruz is grandstanding for '16. He knows his filibuster plan won't work. I don't think he actually WANTS the government to shut down. He's just trying to position himself as the "true conservative" for the primary voters in IA, NH, etc.

What a ridiculous editorial by Steve Sack. Typical of a guy who shows often that he doesn't care about freedom.

"Cruz is grandstanding for '16." He sure is. This new one term Senator, born in Canada, is sure that the birthers won't come after him when he tries to run in 2016. He really reminds me of a young Hitler. He may be Harvard educated but he has embodied the Tea Party slogan. My way, my values, etc or the highway.

digiserv66: It may be a disaster for you, but for millions of self employed in this country that have been paying through the nose, it is a welcome sight. I assume you have group health? You are only a pink slip away from loving Obamacare.

The arrogant leaders in Washington actually believe they know what's best for everyone and they are not afraid to tell you. But, there is no way they can know everyone's situation. There's no way they can know how each individual would chose to live their life. There is no way they can understand the consequences of millions of individuals making decisions in their own best interest. Yet, they think they know better than those millions of individuals. Catastrophes are rarely carried out by the village idiot. It takes intelligent people to create truly awesome disasters.

Cruz is supporting raising the debt ceiling and approving current Federal spending through Continuing Budget Resolutions. That is not shutting down the government

comment229; "You are only a pink slip away from loving Obamacare." The pink slip may be due to Obamacare as companies plan on the fiscal realities imposed upon them by the ACA.

"When do we get to see one on the Obamacare disaster?"---in about another year when we know more about whether it is working or not. Right now the priority is to avoid another shutdown.
