I think it is partly because the border patrol is just on a catch and release or "wave" at them as they go past kind of border policy

"Illegal immigration is closely tied to the strength of the U.S. economy." Really? 77% of all jobs created in 2013 are part-time and relatively low-paying. Millions more people are out of work today than the day Obama took office. Are you SURE that the economy is driving illegal immigration and not all the luscious free cash, food stamps, and free health care awaiting "legal residents" when Obamacare kicks in? Oh, let us not forget the impact of the Democratic Party's push for amnesty and instant citizenship for illegals. If they ever got that instant citizenship, all the illegals would qualify for all those welfare benefits instantly.

I wonder why. Turn your back and let the illegals flow in. What a country.

As far as I'm concerned, the only problem with so-called illegal immigration is that those undocumented workers exist mostly in a bubble without the (good, necessary, and valuable) protections of law that keep people safe and seeks to prevent unfair employment practices and exploitation. Instead, there is a definite and very vocal contingent in our country that seems to see them as either some sort of pollution in out country or worthy of little but exploitation. This is shameful. Neither are good, responsible, or humane ways to view other human beings who are as equally worthy of respect as any American citizen or "legal" immigrant, simply because they are human beings.

A relative term. People have been coming here since 1492. Of course, it matters most when we understand other cultures the least. Herby2013 needs to read up on his "Obamacares" understanding. He's wrong. Nonetheless, Mexico might offer him a cheaper brain transplant than here.

With all the leftist talk of amnesty, er, excuse me, "Immigration REFORM," I'm sure this is only the tip of the iceberg. We will certainly see more illegal border-jumpers, excuse me, I meant "richly-deserving undocumented workers." Sorry, I can't seem to keep all these politically-correct leftist propaganda terms straight.

I thought Obama said that the border was secure now.
