"Gary puts on this facade of being mean and grumpy" Maybe that's why he's no longer needed..

I always made it a point to stop by and see Gary when I came to town. I used to help my Dad (Erwin) Gearty swamp his old (2000 Club) bar just east of Penn where N Logan splits up into tangle town. Gary was a fixture there and then at the old, old Eddie Peck Broadway Bar at, I believe on 4th street and Broadway. That fine Irish team of Bartenders: Gearty, Pikala, Schawb and Schultz is what made the Broadway Bar famous the pizza always came second.

Well here I sat with a tear rolling down my cheek reading this great article about our beloved Gary. I go to read the comments and "busyedge" turned on the waterworks in this little Robbinsdale living room. Thank you so much for including my grandfather "Huntz" in that great comment and giving me a nice cry remembering him. Also, thank you Star Tribune for paying some respect where it was due. I was just a little girl when that foursome ran the show. I would run around the bar and spin the barstools. I'm sure thats how I earned my endearing nickname from Gary that he greeted me without fail. "How ya doin Brat?". This little brat is going to miss ya Gary.
