If he focuses on gangs and illegal gun activity and genuine mental illness he may have support. But if he decides to antagonize legal gun owners and upstanding citizens he will have unrelenting criticism and opposition.
Ha. The Republicans put up unrelenting criticism and opposition to everything President Obama puts forth. If Obama cured cancer the Republicans would criticize him for not curing diabetes too.
Jones had been brought in as acting ATF director in 2011 on the heels of the “Fast and Furious” operation, a botched sting that allowed guns to fall into the hands of Mexican traffickers, including one used to kill a U.S. Border Patrol agent. *** Remember how the NRA used to denounce "Fast and Furious" as a plot by Holder and the Obama administration aimed at increasing gun violence on the border to such a level that the US public would demand stricter gun control? That premise has certainly been shot full of holes. Since that time we've seen, from the accelerating incidence of mass murders and from increased guns sales in their aftermath, that each event only serves to reinforce belief in the efficacy of guns. This either proves the critical mass of Americans to be insane or else so dispirited as to demonstrate the impotence of democracy. I can see how B Todd Jones would be tempted to give up.
If he focuses on gangs and illegal gun activity and genuine mental illness he may have support. *** Yeah right, if the funding by Congress for mental health screening is any indication, he'll have lots of "support."
adliblog: "Since that time we've seen, from the accelerating incidence of mass murders and from increased guns sales in their aftermath, that each event only serves to reinforce belief in the efficacy of guns.".......Where is the data to support your claim that the number of mass murders has risen? Just because the 24 hour news channels sensationalize these events doesn't mean that their frequency has increased.
