Why did it take so long for them to shoot his guy down?

Unfortunately, another 'gun free zone', where a deranged killer had free reign, this time for an unbelievable 30 minutes before he was shot. And once again, it was a person with mental problems, now reported to have been on psychotropic drugs, as so many other mass shooters have been. Yet still the gun-haters continue to try to blame the gun, and NOT the criminal behind it. The real issue is why his obvious mental problems and trouble with the law never caused him to lose his security clearance, and thus access to the naval yard. And it's time to end all 'gun free zones', especially on military bases. Appears we never learned that lesson from Fort Hood.

minn12 Sep. 20, 13 4:01 AM ..."Unfortunately, another 'gun free zone' "... ****************************************** Unfortunately minn12 for you the article clearly states this: ..." even shooting a security guard and grabbing his weapon to continue the killing."... So, this was not a gun free zone. That means that once again we see that having guns carried at the scene of mass killings doesn't stop the killings automatically and that access to guns does result in dead people because the gun allows the perp to propel metal into bodies at high speed fatally damaging the body. It is only the gun that makes that possible.

Several things stick out on this account of the shootings. First, what lousy reporting on initial reports of shooting down, using an AR-15 etc. Pure poppycock. Secondly a 30 minute response??? And thirdly how the responders delayed enough for him to use up all his ammunition...THEN they shot him.

chuckdancer - "Unfortunately minn12 for you the article clearly states this: ..." even shooting a security guard and grabbing his weapon to continue the killing."... So, this was not a gun free zone. "____ How was this different from any other gun free zones which typically exempt police officers and security guards from the no guns rule? The rest of your post is speculation, so let's speculate. What if someone who didn't look like security had a gun? Having a gun isn't a magic talisman which automatically stops the murdering, but why would you want the victims to not have a chance to protect themselves?
