"The system will be available in November and cost about $349."---I love technology but really can't justify the cost. I know you can reduce heating and cooling costs with a programmable thermostat but it would take years to pay this off.

Hope it does not behave like siri: I don't understand... do you mean xyz? do you mean shut it off? do you mean ... I prefer not to change...

I think I would rather have NEST thermostat - which will allow me to control my thermostat even when I'm not home. Not sure what the benefit is of yelling across the room to adjust the thermostat - I mean how often does one do that?

I can see it now...Husband: "Make it cooler." Wife: "Make it warmer." Husband: "Cooler!" Wife: "Warmer!" Thermostat: "Stop it! You're tearing me apart! *ZZT* *POP*"

Nice to see Honeywell doing some innovation finally - after decades of selling those ugly circular tan colored thermostats. Not entirely sold on this item though - if I'm gonna hang something on my wall that big they could have made it look a little more attractive.

I hope that this isn't the future for thermostats. I envision my furnace and AC units running nearly non-stop with a voice activated thermostat, due to my wife complaining about how hot/cold the house is on any given day.

Will this be made at their Golden Valley factory or are they shipping the jobs to China?

Hello - Dane from Honeywell here. I can answer a few of these questions. 1. The Honeywell Wi-Fi Smart Thermostats also come with an app that allows you to control your thermostat away from home. 2. Unlike other voice activated devices, you can activate the Honeywell Wi-Fi Smart Thermostat with Voice at considerable distance – even with background noise. 3. Our website has a calculator to see what potential energy savings can be. This may help you justify the cost. (WifiThermostat dot com)

Chuzeus- these, like almost every Honeywell thermostat are made in Mexico. Honeywell is really a New Jersey company now.

How does this justify energy savings over a programmable one? The benefit of a programmable one is once you set to your schedule, it runs the heat/ac efficiently. By constantly adjusting it by voice or smartphone you cancel any energy savings. At the point, how hard is it to push a button? And can you imagine husband/wife/kids all controlling by smartphone. This thing will end up raising your costs by wasteful counter adjustments.
