Shipwrecked Concordia declared vertical after daylong operation to right it from its side

GIGLIO ISLAND, Italy — The crippled Costa Concordia cruise ship was pulled completely upright early Tuesday during a complicated, 19-hour operation to wrench it from its side where it capsized last year off Tuscany, with officials declaring it a "perfect" end to a daring and unprecedented engineering feat.

Can I assume that the fellow serving as the captain of the ship who made the decision to take it in too close to shore is still unemployed in that capacity?

His trial, in which he faces charges of manslaughter and abandoning ship, started in July in Grosseto in Tuscany, the closest city to the scene of the disaster."

The news article says that the Concordia is now upright. Very impressive operation.

I'm going to show my two boys video of the operation, and when they ask how they did it, I'm going to answer "math and science". Maybe that will help them see why it's so important to work hard in school. Pretty incredible feat of engineering.
