Sid Hartman: A lot of positives for Vikings go to waste

Christian Ponder played better in the second half and the Vikings made some big plays, but it wasn’t enough.

No positives being 0-2 Sid. You can't take away the bad first half by Ponder those numbers count too. Sad that Peterson is wasting away on this pathetic team.

Even with Hester the Vikings could have won save Ponder's interception. Being diplomatic is fine and espirit de corp amongst teammates is expected but this is a lost season w/ Ponder and Musgrave's league's tiniest playcard, that M Schlereth hilariously noted last year didn't need to be big 'cause there are only two plays on it;hand to Adrian, pass to Adrian. LOL. Fans should expect Ponder's int's every week. When asked how long was too long to keep Ponder playing Michael Irvin said "yesterday was too long". Would of been funny if it were about another team. And it made a lot of sense when they also said that they went out and got a precision route runner in G Jennings for an inaccurate QB who really needs a big body(Rudolph) to throw to so he can adjust to grab the ball 'cause of the poor throwing. Trouble is it's all too true.

Ponder could not take the Vikings to the Super Bowl even if he owned the only bus going

One TD out of the offense and that's considered a good game from our QB? A new standard of low expectations.

I lived in Pittsburgh for three years. They love the Steelers and are disappointed when they lose, but there is very little of the immature and nasty criticism that exists in the Twin Cities. These games are not your life; just enjoy them.

I'm still amazed the team and media want to make Ponder out better than he is. He was at best average. Obviously he will make some plays, but overall he's average at best. Stop the excuses. Shooting for 8-8 and then you can say he played well 50% of the time

Not only should the Vikings have thrown it on 3rd, they should have gone for it on 4th down. Even if they dont get in, they at least go into overtime because the Bears would have had 30 more yards to cover and would have settled for the tying ffield goal. Sid knows better than anyone that a 6 point lead on the road with 3 minutes left only means the Vikings will lose by 1. .

Ponder says we're a great team. Huh!!!

Sid said: "...including a strong second-half performance by quarterback Christian Ponder." That's positive Sid, but the good QBs realize that there are TWO halves in a football game and bring it strong before and after halftime. As another poster stated, there is NOTHING positive about being 0-2, especially when both games where handed to the Vikes on a silver platter by Detroit and Chicago. The glory years of Bud Grant, Jerry Burns, and Dennis Green have faded into the distance and it looks like this pathetic franchise will never return to that. When the head coach and media coddle a QB that ranks right up there with Ryan Leaf - getting excited over a second half of "good play" - the average fan realizes all hope has been lost.
