Souhan: In category of health, Kill falls too short to continue

  • Article by: Jim Souhan , Star Tribune
  • Updated: September 15, 2013 - 8:32 AM

His boss, Norwood Teague, showed Saturday, when he chose not to address the issue, that’s he’s also lacking something.

Spot on Jim! The U of M has no clue on how to run a Division I program. Maturi drove the program into the ground and it will take years to recover. Football will never be relevant again at the U.

Souhan is a drama queen, the media seems to be more worked up over this than than the players and fans. Let's get rid of Gardy before we run Jerry Kill out of town.

Kill has a medical condition - big deal. The guy is a great leader for this program - plus the coordinators basically manage the game. People and the media need to back off - Kill shouldn't be punished because he is different - he works harder than most people in the businesses.

You've reached a new low with this column Souhan...

The Coaches, team and everyone else including Coach Kill celebrated a win. You chose to demean him, and his boss. Shame on you. Shame on your Editor and Publisher.

Unfortunately, Souhan is spot on with his analysis. As Coach Kill himself recently told the Star Tribune: "You can’t be the head football coach and miss half of a game.. If I was doing those things... I’d walk away"

This belongs in a "Worst of Souhan" compilation. What of substance was Teague supposed to say that hasn't been said? He needs the opportunity to discuss with Kill before bowing to the bleating media. What's best for the program and the Gopher's playing for Kill is getting through this season without the added drama of a sudden coaching change. Teague's gone this far with him, now he needs to see if the team wins more Big Ten games. Unless Kill chooses to step down, the time to act is at season's end, when Big Ten wins give evidence of whether the program is improving, and Kill's condition can be assessed in that context.

What was Teague supposed to say Jim? Do you ever think anything through before you write it?

clnorthSep. 14, 13 8:35 PM

What better example can there be on how to overcome problems in life? He should be commended not criticized.

spierceohsSep. 14, 13 8:40 PM

Jim - does that mean we need to get rid of Rick Adelman next? He missed half the season last year, apparently to you the reason doesn't matter.
