Assad: Syria to submit data on its chemical weapons stockpile a month after signing convention

BEIRUT — Syrian President Bashar Assad publicly agreed Thursday to a Russian plan to secure and destroy his chemical weapons, but said the proposal would work only if the U.S. halts threats of military action.

Does everybody remember when some experts were defending Bush and telling people Hussein moved his poison gas to Syria???? There were no weapons of mass destruction in that area!!!

This would never have happened had the President decided not to respond to Assad's use of chemical weapons.

Assad will be overthrown since he is backed by Iran, the real enemy of Israel-I mean- the US. Therefore, it means the US can not let Assad, and Iran, win the civil war. Meanwhile, the Israeli settlement building in the occupied territories continues against international law, which is the root cause of American hatred in the Middle East.

people need to quit being scared of a Syria conflict its oppression and gassing of innocent children if it was someone you knew or a European country you would be screaming for blood. Where was the opposition when it came to Iraq and Afghanistan ? there wasn't any because the simple minded public was still soaking up the media fueled 9/11 blind faith patriotism remember when we needed to "save" the people of Iraq? i guess after a decade of war it waned

Anyone check on how Libya is doing these days? Guess are backing of the rebels there to take out their dictator really made Libya a better place. Let's learn are lesson, nothing good can come from us getting more involved then we already are. Let's STOP talking about Syria and focus and the thousands of problems we have here back home! Let Russia handle this!
