The Vikings have a chance to do something this year that has never been accomplished in franchise history.

Sorry Mike, you can't become a stable winner without a good quarterback in today's primarily passing only league. Ponder has to be dominant & a great leader but you just can't cover for him anymore. He is a nice guy just not "the" guy to lead this team. You also need a more solid defense than we have now, especially at linebacker.

You say 10 victories wouldn't be stunning? I would be stunned if they got to 10 this year, after watching their dismal preseason and first game efforts. I really don't think they can hit some 'switch' and be a dominant team at this point. And they would need to be dominant because the schedule is tougher than last year. But I would definitely welcome 10 wins.

I had hoped for 8-8...now it looks like 4-12, at best...but hopes emerge for drafting a good QB and getting a new coaching staff.

Poor Peterson...He is turning into another Garnett in Minnesota sports land. An MVP good enough to get his team to the playoffs...but needs more help in the playoffs. And probably (but I REALLY hope not)..another Barry Sanders...HOF career wasted on bad teams.

This year shows the limits of the "draft-starters and hope for the best" process. They upgraded their receivers (2 year project), upgraded their cornerbacks (2 year project, hopefully), but did nothing for their terrible, terrible offensive line (the right guard/tackle pair is the slowest (physically and mentally) and most technically-incompetent in the NFL, nor did they do anything to improve their mediocre-at-best linebacker corps (with a sub-sub-par middle-linebacker in Henderson. Time to start Bishop RIGHT NOW.) Until they address those two issues, this team isn't going anywhere, even if they had a Farve-level QB (who are few and far between.) This season: 4-12 (barely)

I read the other day that Viking coach is a man of faith, and likes to stick with tradition and hope and pray that things will work out. Well he might be; but if he refuses to bench Ponder and bring not Casell, but the third string QB whom I hear has a strong arm; he will find out sooner than later that he has no job!
