The Syrian willingness to abandon their chemical weapons and sign the International Convention on Chemical Weapons is a great step forward towards peace. There is no reason whatsoever for American intervention in the Syrian civil war. Mr. Lavrov should be applauded for his efforts on this. Mr. Kerry and Mr. Obama should chill out and refocus their energies on getting the six remaining hold out pariah countries to agree to the treaty, which bars the manufacture, stockpiling and use of poison gas. The nations who have refused to sign the treaty are Angola, Egypt, ISRAEL, Myanmar, North Korea and South Sudan. Really!

It was Putin's idea and not Kerry's idea.

Let's hope Syria agrees to the proposal. It will save many lives.

One problem - Syria has its weapons secured, but exposed to attack, likely on purpose. This has prevented Israel from too many bombing raids, and probably put a damper on Obama's war plans. It's best not to expect others in the world to be as stupid as the US wants them to be. And Israel keeps its nukes AND CW? Laughable!
