I watched Kaepernick and Dalton playing today. Wondering why our management missed these 2 QBs. Two wrong does not make right. First mistake was to draft Ponder very high at 12 pick. Second mistake is to continue let him be a starting QB. They also had an opportunity to land Smith or draft Wilson. But again shame on Vikings's management. This season is no more fun!!

First down - run, hand off Peterson.. second down - run, hand off Peterson... third down, pass... gee, I wonder why Detroit was so good at stuffing the run?... why not just invite the opponents into the huddle?... Roll out the right handed QB to his left, and have all but ONE of the receivers finish a route and cut to get loose... I wonder why the Vikings have trouble passing? Or maybe it's when the receiver is the decoy, they dog it and the safety and the beer seller can tell who is the primary?... Really? NO ONE CAN FIGURE IT OUT?

This team woefully needs a reality check and it just amazes me that the media knows what is wrong, the fans know what is wrong, and the guys broadcasting the game know what is wrong; but apparently management does not, or doesn't care, or their egos are so damn big that they refuse to change. Just a couple of thoughts come to mind. First, the vikings were lucky, yes lucky, that this was NOT a home game. Second, it is not going to be long until Peterson finally says something that is not going to be nice. Third, the only thing consistent about the vikings is that they never change. The offensive and defensive sets tell you literally who is going to get the ball and what defense is being played. Even the announcers alluded to this as the game went on, referring to Harrison and who was that other safety back there? But we all know where the biggest problem is on this team and apparently there is not going to be change. The best comment so far in this paper, was someone who wrote in, said that if Ponder was released tomorrow, not one NFL team would pick him up; not one. I think that is arguably THE most accurate statement I have heard. It's really hard to be a twins....errr.. vikings fan right now. Go Lynx, Go Wild. Minnesotans deserve better.

PS... I don't think any fan expects the vikings to win every game, but when you lose the same way as you have in the past, don't change, do the same things over and over and expect different results, I think you are fooling yourself.....

Jennings is going to be a great acquisition . He's already a great teammate and will be a great receiver if the Vikings can find someone to hit him in stride.

8-9 guys in the box to stop Peterson, Wr's showed separation and made some acrobatic catches thus it came down to the Lions no respecting Ponder and his ability to lead an effective passing game. Jimmy Johnson, Tony Dungy, Bradshaw etc., Vikings fans, opposing one respects Ponder as an NFL QB, what's it going to take for Speilman and Frazier to see what is right in front of their nose?? There were WR's open all day and Ponder gets happy feet as soon as his #1 option is ocvered. Ponder will get credit for his passing yards but his wr's bailed him out time after time with acrobatic catches. The long pass to Simpson should've been a TD had he hit him in stride but Simpson had to make an unbelievable effort just to catch it.This is going to be a long season.

The Lions spanked Peterson BIG TIME!!!

padput65Sep. 9, 13 8:28 AM

Like I said before Payton Manning has more touchdown passes in 1 game than Ponder will have by mid season.

Cut Ponder tomorrow, hire Tim Tebow.

golionsSep. 9, 1311:10 AM

This is all a result of how bad Ponder is. Frazer is protecting him because he is "his guy". AP won't break 2000 yards again like this. Teams will watch the tape and when they decide that they will put 8-9 in the box, Ponder will prove his inability to beat them. The Lions secondary is attrocious and yet Ponder was terrible. What will happen next week when Charles Tillman is back there shredding Ponder. The Vikings are going to be in tough until a switch is made.
