Illegal immigrates and liberals are not going to be happy until there is amnesty/citizenship given. Doesn't seem to be anyway to prevent it. So, they MOST secure the border then. Otherwise, in 10 years we'll be doing this all over and they will be demanding citizenship for another 10-15 million illegals.

Immigration reform to republicans is code for getting rid of immigrants. Just look at some of the ignorant comments, like "they bring disease" among others. For a party whose core values are racism and ignorance, one wonders what terrible ideas they could propose.

Yes, there is ignorance in this debate, however, the law is the law. Either enforce the laws we have or get rid of them. Our immigration system is broken and we have a man in the white house who says don't enforce the laws. Makes on wonder just how the legal system is supposed to work. Make the legislative branch do its job and find a way to do it without rewarding "illegal" activity.

Conservatives have to be happy that President Obama has been diligently enforcing our laws regarding immigration and defending our borders unlike his predecessor. Conservatives know that in eight years of the Bush presidency talk was cheap and action was very scarce on immigration.

"Immigration reform to republicans is code for getting rid of immigrants" --- Immigration reform to Democrats is full amnesty/citizenship and the buying of 15 million more votes.

chuckdancer---------You do realize that he has ordered the ICE to not enforce the immigration laws, right? But what the heck, What's another 30 Million unskilled workers coming into the USA collecting SS and medicare if you can buy votes with amnesty. The 30 Millioin unemployed Citizens don't need jobs.

This is a very tough and emotional issue. On one hand, I know many people living in border states believe that many of their jobs have been lost to illegal immigrants who will work for almost nothing. On the other hand many businesses don't want to pay a living wage so they prefer to continue the status quo. It's a very sad state for our country that this issue will probably be decided by politicians that just need the latino votes.

Can one of you liberal pro-amnesty people please explain on simple thing, one thing I have NOT heard from anyone on the amnesty side. Just how does adding 11 million (30+ million after family is brought in) mostly unskilled, uneducated people that will qualify for EVERY government program, how will that help America? Don't tell me that they will pay taxes. they will all qualify for the earned income credit and get even more money back. Tell me, should be simple.

"Our immigration system is broken" About 700,000 immigrants become citizens every year. How do they do it? especially if the system is "broken". Does broken mean that not everyone can be a citizen? Does it mean that Everyone that wants to can become a citizen, (is that a good idea?). It seems to work for hundreds of thousands. Maybe more should get in line?
