Brazilian police detain members of a gang that hid weapons in mattresses to smuggle arms to US

BRASILIA — Brazilian police say seven people have been detained and 22 high-caliber guns and munitions have been seized in an operation targeting a band that trafficked in arms from the U.S. by hiding them inside mattresses.

Oh noes, they violated gosh knows how many already-existing gun laws on both sides of the border! The solution is we must make MORE gun laws for criminals to violate! (sarcasm) And yo, AP ... it is 7.62, not .762. Of course if the AP author had even a jot of actual knowledge of guns, they might have listed if the round was 7.62x25, 7.62x39 or 7.62x54, thus possibly qualifying if the round was indeed "high-caliber" ... whatever the heck that is anyway.

Headline says "to"... story says "from"... That, and that the author didn't even have the most basic knowledge about firearms known by almost every 12 year old American kid, pretty much says they didn't know if they were coming or going.

Since the StarTrib doesn't ever edit or correct the Associated Press, this garbage story is what gullible anti-gun people will remember. Bad journalism at the least.
