Does anyone else get sick to their stomach knowing that an upper middle class white guy gets rich appropriating black music and GLBT causes?

It takes personal initiative and hard work to become successful in any field. I'll always pay for quality music and entertainment, no matter what the color of your skin is. Hard work and personal initiative are what help make the level playing field level. Students would do well to learn this lesson as well.

Macklemore covers a lot of weighty issues in his music. I highly suggest you listen to "White Privilege" (where, @jaromir68, he does talk about his misgivings over his success and how it relates to his skin color), "Wings" (commercialization, violence), "10,000 Hands" (dedication to art), and "Starting Over" (about his relapse and return to sobriety).
