Attempted murder? Weak out of shape cop tries to bust on a college kid and gets slammed, and it's attempted murder? I am seeing resisting arrest for the runner, and enhanced physical training and a donut ban for the police in Minot

Attempted murder for brawl with cops? Have tasers made it to North Dakota?

This student-athlete must be one tough SOB to physically injure two cops - wow.

Obviously, what the kid did to the cops was dead wrong, but the cops/prosecutor are clearly demonstrating a double standard by charging the kid with attempted murder. I bet there is zero precedent for a fist fight and that charge -- except where a cop is concerned. I have nothing against law enforcement -- very tough job -- but if one chooses that career, don't be surprised if you encounter violence. And don't expect to be pampered.

Anyone wonder how the student knocked the cop out? Might not have been just a simple punch. Might have been a blow the head with a blunt object. And that could be construed as attempted murder.

@carlbs: Who said the KO was from the "brawl"? It could have been from a blow with a blunt object. The article (and others I've seen) is silent on the point, but consider this: Why the attempted murder charge on this fight and not every "resisting arrest" fight?
