Pohlads are some of the worst owners in Sport today. I wish they would sell the team already.

Get over it. He's not a star anymore. Spending all that money on his contract is one of the reasons the Twins have been a losing team th past three years.

There are basically three posters here who defend the Twins regardless of what they do. They defend a 99 loss season, a 96 loss season, and a 9? loss season this year. They defend a woeful playoff record. They defend a decreased payroll with a group of .230 hitters. They defend a really bad baseball team that apparently will remain bad for a number of years to come, just as long as the team's owners continue to make a high rate of profit from that team.

Pat Reusse wrote in 2009 that the decisions the team was making then set them up for a long, desolate future. That future is now.

Just a side comment on Revere: after a slow start with the Phillys, Ben was batting .312 in May, .354 in June and .388 in July before he broke his foot. Yeah it made a lot of sense to bring up Hicks from AA before he was ready. So many brilliant moves by Ryan.

paul44, we are heading into a different subject. Liriano is better than all three of the pitchers they received in the Span and Revere trades. You need 80 pitching prospects to find 5 major league pitchers. As Kansas City learned, you keep your good players and buy solid major league pitchers to field a competitive team. The Twins are getting rid of their established players and attempting to develop young pitchers.

trade an outstanding player for a perpetual 28 year old minor league outfielder. How does this improve the Twins in any way? What a bunch of knuckleheads!

hjlazni: Thomas and Masto are utility players and fillers until Hicks takes over CF in '14. The Twins traded Revere for what they sorely need - pitching. Mays was the Phillies top pitching prospect and hopefully will be a frontline starter for the Twins by '15. That's what the Revere trade was for.
